Zibadianja
Camp is moving to a great new site that looks towards the
Zibadianja Lagoon. The new site is about 2km south-east from
the old camp and is situated in the eastern sector of the
Selinda Reserve under ancient Jackalberry and Red Ivory
forests. The view, the shady trees and the high wildlife
concentrations characterise the camp as does the elevated
views across the flood plain that forms an extension of
Zibadianja Lagoon’s southern shores.
ACCOMMODATION:
This Premier quality camp has four large and luxuriously
appointed double or twin “marquis style” tents that
accommodate a maximum of 6 Guests. It is perfect for small
groups who are looking for privacy. (At times we may be able
to accommodate a private group of up to 8 guests). Each
"campaign furnished tent" is expansive
(10mx18m) and is positioned to emphasise the spectacular view.
Each tent comprises a spacious bedroom, an en suite bathroom
with copper bath & shower, and an outdoor shower as well
as a separate and comfortable lounge. Hot water is available
24 hours a day. A large shady veranda is standard as are
private pools, overhead fans and mosquito nets.
The Main Area:
Continuing the marquis style of the accommodation, the main
area is all under canvas with an emphasis on the view and the
wildlife viewing out front. Furnished in the same
‘campaign’ style furniture, the main area evokes the
wonderful and traditional safari ambiance. Lounge and dining
facilities may be enjoyed under cover or on the full length
deck shaded by giant broadleaf trees.
Pool:
Each guest tent at Zibadianja will have its own private plunge
pool looking onto the plains of Selinda.
Meals:
All meals are table d’hôte and include a light breakfast at
dawn, a hearty brunch on return from the morning activity,
afternoon tea and snacks before the afternoon activity,
rounded off with a three course dinner in the evening. Special
meals and requirements can be catered for on request. All
local drinks are included in the tariff. One of the advantages
of a small camp is that we can be flexible with meal times and
can adjust meal times to suit wildlife sightings and
individual guest's preferences.
ACTIVITIES:
There is no set routine at Zibadianja. We are small enough to
be flexible. However, from experience, we recommend that
activities are conducted when the wildlife is most active.
Generally we explore the reserve in the early morning, late
afternoon and at night. The midday siesta time can be spent at
one of our waterholes. Zibadianja Camp is located at a
brilliant wildlife area and most often the best wildlife
viewing at midday will be from your room! Wildlife drives are
the primary activity and are conducted in our open, new Toyota
Landcruisers specifically adapted for our conditions. Walking
is also encouraged and can either be a short walk from camp or
as a full morning’s activity. Walks are led by licensed
guides who are firearm experienced. A private vehicle and
guide service is available, but must be booked in advance.
