To reach this little paradise in the Delta requires a 25 minute scenic flight in a small chartered aircraft over some of the special areas one can expect to encounter during the next few days. In the presence of your very own experienced Professional Guide, you will be fortunate to travel on foot, or in the traditional "mokoro" or dugout canoe whilst seeing some of the local endemic species of game and bird life. This area is extremely rich in bird life and offers in excess of 120 species of birds, including serious rarities such as the Pel’s Fishing Owl, Black Coucal and the endangered Wattled Crane.

On the numerous islands, there are sufficient game species to satisfy the non-birder and to see kudu feeding lazily on the bushes whilst you are on foot no more than 30 meters away is a sight to please anyone. Other animals often seen here include elephant, lion, hippo, warthog and multitude of antelope species you are likely to encounter during your time in the Delta, will almost certainly leave you more than satisfied.

If you are extremely fortunate, you may see the elusive sitatunga as it bounds across the narrow channel in a spray of sparkling water. "Semetsi" is the Setswana translation meaning "place of water", and the camp, situated under the sprawling branches of spectacular fig and African Ebony trees on an island in the middle of the Okavango Delta, is therefore aptly named.

Accommodation at Semetsi is in new mini meru tents on raised wooden decks all with sunset views and overlooking the Okavango; new and larger beds and tent furniture, additional hot / cold showers and flush toilets. Many hours can be comfortably spent simply sitting in the shade overlooking the flood plains, looking for some of the red lechwe antelope, which can be seen in this spectacular habitat.
