Motsentsela Tree Lodge is a small Lodge ideally situated away from the bustle of Maun, perfect for the more discerning traveller, on his/her way to or from the Okavango Delta.

The main thatched complex consisting of bar, lounge, entrance hall and dining room is very spacious, stylishly furnished with large windows. The front is bordered by a large teak deck, which surrounds two large trees, a Leadwood and a Birdplum, from which the Lodge gets its Setswana name.

The Lodge consists of seven large Meru style tents, each with en suite toilet facilities, catering for a maximum of fourteen clients. The tents are large enough to be very comfortable, simply furnished but stylish and attractive. All tents are on decks, surrounded by trees and are well spaced for privacy.

With the recent addition are 2 new Honeymoon cottages – The Lodge can now accommodate 18 persons. The Cottages are thatched with a unique outside shower set amongst the forest. Another feature is an en suite large circular bath with stunning views.

Motsentsela Tree Lodge has seven tented safari rooms and two honeymoon suites, that are so far from camping it's not funny. They are so stylish and comfortable, that you just hope your next safari lodge in the Okavango Delta will be this good.

Maun is the base town from which most Okavango Delta safaris start, and to avoid the rush of connecting flights both inward and outgoing, I recommend breaking into safari mode slowly with a night or two at Motsentsela Tree Lodge.

The owner Brent Dacomb has designed and built many safari camps in the Okavango Delta and elsewhere, and when it came to building his own safari camp, he just selected all the best design features and incorporated them into Motsentsela Tree Lodge. For once, here was someone able tap into hindsight to get the best possible result.

The main lodge area of Motsentsela Tree Lodge is an open plan thatch affair with doors opening onto a large teak deck shaded by a Leadwood and Birdplum trees, under which meals and drinks are often served. Wooden table sand chairs scatter the deck, while a large brown leather sofa and easy chairs with African fabric cushions invite you inside to flop into them, while your drinks are being poured at the bar.

Dining is also an open affair, where you are likely to chat over fresh and tasty food with the other guests at one big table.

Motsentsela Tree lodge Honeymoon Chalets

The lodge also has two new thatched honeymoon chalets, very private, tastefully furnished and superbly comfortable. Large sunken baths and an outside shower with a view into the woods will make your stay a memorable one.

Its not just about the great accommodation and warm hospitality. Staying at the Tree Lodge also lets you stretch your legs after your long flight or overland safari. The lodge has its own swimming pool complete with sun loungers or for the more adventurous we have three marked walking trails set out for guests to explore at their own pace and time.

Motsentsela Tree Lodge Luxury Tents

Seven specially designed en suite tents on teak decks sit under a canopy of indigenous trees, sited in such a way as to ensure privacy and to heighten the feeling of being in the remote African bush.
