Chobe
Game Lodge must be in one of Africa’s finest locations,
overlooking from its shady walkways and galleries, the placid
Chobe River and the vast expanse of the Caprivi flood-plain
beyond, with its herds of elephant, buffalo and antelope. As
the only permanent lodge within the Chobe National Park, Chobe
Game Lodge shares its space, 11 700 square kilometres, with
over 35 000 elephants.
Designed
in the Moorish style the lodge has played host to a number of
international figures and events, the most famous of which was
the wedding of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Meals
are served on the covered terrace and there are two bars, one
of which has a full-size billiard table. In addition, there is
a lounge, a well-equipped curio shop and a swimming pool.
The
lodge also has a full-service conference facility offering
seating for up to 100 delegates.
Accommodation
Moorish
and graceful, the high arches, barrel-vault ceilings and tiled
floors create an atmosphere of spaciousness and tranquillity.
All 46 rooms are tastefully furnished and cooled by overhead
punkah-punkah fans and air-conditioning. For the connoisseur
of luxury there are four private suites, each with individual
swimming pools and outside garden patio. All rooms overlook
the perennial Chobe river and the adjacent Caprivi
flood-plain.
Maximum
100 guests in 46 double rooms + 4 suites.
Facilities
within the lodge include a well-stocked curio shop, wildlife
reference library and stylishly decorated Linyanti bar and
lounge area. A modern conference centre accommodating 100
delegates is available and the venue is ideal as a corporate
getaway and for selected senior management seminars. All
conference aids are available, including 16 mm and slide
projectors, flip charts, VCR and television, telex, fax and
telephone facilities.
